Mommy Review~ Plus-Sized Yoga

I have been dying to try yoga. I have even gone to a few classes. They always make me feel uncomfortable.  All the little tiny people in there that are all healthy and flexible. Typically I walk out feeling worse about myself than better about myself.

I recently got my hands on a book called Plus-Sized Yoga. It is great. It teaches me the basics of Yoga. The pictures are cute. They are little plus sized figures. It really focuses on ANYBODY can do it. Not just the little people.

One of the things about this book is they understood me. The didn’t point fingers at me. The book understood that everybody is different and plus size people are going to need to move differently they are going to need to train their body differently.

I have really enjoyed this book and will continue using it. The only thing I wish for in it is that it was a video and not a book. I would have really loved to see people actually doing it rather than just drawn pictures.

If you are plus size and looking for a great way to start Yoga I HIGHLY recommend Plus-Sized Yoga. (Actually is you are any size it will be great) You will not regret it. So head on over here and buy your own copy.

****I did receive this book. These are my honest opinions. ***

Mommy Confessions~This game of Monopoly I don’t like.

I am not a Monopoly game player nor am I a fan of Monopoly in the corporate world. The consumer always ends up getting screwed in both games. Well lately I have ended up loosing in the corporate game of Monopoly.

In the area that I live in there is only 1 power company DP&L. Last week I had DP&L come out to my house to pick up a fridge it is part of their program to save on energy and waste. They pay you to come get it and they take it away and you don’t have to deal with it. GREAT PROGRAM. Anyways while I was out there dealing with the workers one of them mubles something and then disappears off into my back yard. I walk back to see what he is doing and he is PEEING IN MY BACK YARD. (yes we live in the country yes people have peed in my back yard yes i have thought a few of my friends kids to pee in my back yard but NOT A STRANGER) This just isn’t cool in my book. So I do what any good blogger would do I quickly shut the garage door and go into my house and tweet and facebook about it. I really didn’t know what else to do. DP&L got wind of my tweet and called me we talked and joked about it. The lady explained that they hire contractors blah blah blah. Then she sent me a hand written letter. Which I really appreciated because NOBODY sends hand written letters anymore. So that issues was resolved.

Then yesterday comes. Now our power goes out on a regular basis. When the hurricane came thru here in 2008 we were the last people to get out power back we were told we were LOW priority. We understood that we aren’t in the city and we made due. But yesterday I was on the phone talking with a company (yes readers be excited about who I was talking to SHH I can’t tell you who but it deals with our readers YIPPIE)  and I had to quickly get off the phone because I NASTY storm came thru. The sky turned black, nasty wind, rain and hail came thru. Well the power went out shocker right. Since it goes out ALL THE  FREAKING TIME. So I call DP&L (because they are on speed dial) and they tell me it will be back on in 2 hours. 2 hours pass and guess what NO POWER. So I call back they tell me it will be on by 6pm. (keep in mind it went off at 115pm) So 6pm comes and goes and still NO POWER. So I load the older 3 up and take them to get ice cream (thank goodness my mom stopped and brought us dinner home) and to hit Sams club for some diapers. We we get back at around 8pm and still NO POWER. So I call them again they tell me they haven’t even sent out crews and that they can’t do anything about it. I ask if I should go else where and she tells me it might be a good idea. I ask if they are going to pay for it and she laughs and asks why they would do that. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME. So just then my mom calls and needs to go to walmart so I load up the older 2 and we head off to walmart. Around 10 pm Tommy calls and tells me we have power. So when we got home we had power. Then it starts raining and guess what. THE POWER GOES OFF AGAIN. We had power for oh about 15 minuets until it went off again. The house was so hot. It storming something nasty. And we have no power. PERFECT.  Luckly the little ones slept thru even though they didn’t have their fans on. I got the older 2 calmed down around midnight and they were asleep on my chair and couch. Then Tommy and I went to bed and I pulled out the battery operated fan and put it by my head so I could sleep (yes I have a small addiction to my fan) The power came back on a little after 2am.

This is insane. While I understand that somethings are out of a company’s control but this is crazy. It is 2010 and we can clone human’s but we can’t keep power on. (This was quoted by my husband along with I bet Edison is laughing his A%S off. )

It isn’t like I live in an area that I can go and choose what company I use. I only have 1 choice. DP&L. I live in the country it isn’t like I still have water when the power goes out. We live on a well our pump is electric. No power equal no water. That also means no flushing toilets. OH YES THE JOYS OF COUNTRY LIVING. In the cold when the power goes out we have no head. Yes we are on propane but the furnace is run by electric. (this past winter we were out of power for 2 days during a snow storm. )

So in others words I am tired of living in a Monopoly where DP&L always wins.

Mommy Opinions~Wonder Warmer

In my family we are heating pad users. We use them for everything. Headaches, body aches, earaches you name it we use them. My sister has a small addiction to hers. My sister used hers so much that she actually has a scar on her from burning herself. Yup we tend to use them a little to much. I even use mine when I am really cold just to warm me up.

With Wonder Warmer the problems of a tradition heating pad is gone. No more leaving the house and worrying that you are going to come home to your house on fire because you left it plunged in.

Wonder Warmer is so awesome it is this pack of liquid. It has this penny looking thing in the corner. You click it a few times and it starts making all the liquid solid. It is really cool. While it is going solid it gets really HOT. Like 130 degrees hot. It says hot up to 2 hours. LOVE IT. Now you can take your heating pad where ever you go. The best thing about it is that it is completely reusable. All you have to do is wrap it in  a towel and boil it for about 10 minuets. I did have a few problems with getting it 100%back to the full liquid state but the I realized that if I click the penny thing back it stays in the liquid form. Wonder Warmer comes in a wrap that you can wrap around your body. It is awesome. I had a migraine one day. So when I get a headache I want a few things.

  • coke
  • heat
  • weight

I got 2 of those with Warmer. The weight from the packet was the perfect weight for what I want on my head when I have a really bad headache. If you have cramps just wrap it around your waist and you are ready to go.

Not only is Wonder Warmer a heating pad it is also a bottle warmer. They have this cute little bag that will fit any bottle size so you can take it with you and heat your bottle up. No more sitting at the restaurant with hot water spilling all over the place. The bottle warmer is small enough that it will not take up a whole lot of room in your bag and will not add weight to it.

Wonder Warmer also has other types of warmers so make sure you head over to WONDER WARMERS and check out what they have.

So what is a great review with out a great GIVEAWAY.

all you have to do is.

    Wordless Wednesday

Shameless Blog plug and my new found love of Piknik all rolled into one!

Mommy Opinion~Baby Food it is serious

The time has come for little Declan to start eating. I am not a big fan of store bought baby food. I make most of mine. My friends joke that at the age of 6 months my kids are eating pot roast. (yes Erica I am talking about you.) I like my kids to be good eaters and have the best types of food. That is why I choose to make my own. But in all honesty I do keep store bought food on hand. I keep it for when the little ones go to my moms or we go out somewhere as a just in case we need it sort of thing.

Up until recently you only had a few types of baby food to choose from Gerber or Beachnut. There wasn’t such a thing as organic baby food. But there is now.  Sprout baby food has came out with an organic line and I am loving it.

I love the fact that the texture is the same as if I was making it myself. I opened a pack of sweet potatoes and I would have swore it was mine put into the package. That is a MAJOR plus in my eyes.

I love the smell of it. The Sprout doesn’t smell like the “normal” baby food. It smells real and not like processed dog food.

I love the package. I like the fact that it isn’t a glass jar or a little plastic container that will bust at any point in time all over my bag. Instead it is a GREAT thick sturdy bag with a zip lock type top. The down side of the bag is the baby food tends to get on your hand when you are getting it on the spoon. Maybe I just need to get longer spoons.

I love that Sprout is taking the environment into consideration. The packages are ECO Friendly. How about that.

I love the fact that there is No fillers, sugars, or preservatives in it. HELLO just like mommy makes.

I love the fact that there is a chef making this. So that the flavor actually matters. There are TONS of great choices.

    • Roasted apples
    • Roasted pears
    • sweet potatoes
    • Roasted apples and blueberries
    • Oatmeal with roasted cinnamon applesauce
    • Pasta with Lentil Bolognese
    • Just to name a few.

I love the fact that my little ones EAT IT UP. They love the stuff. Declan is almost 6 months and Paisley is 16 months. Paisley goes around begging for it while I am feed Declan going yum yum yum. Declan doesn’t let any of it go to waste. There is none even left on his face. He LOVES it.

So needless to say Sprout Organic Baby Food is a HUGE hit in my house. Even though I prefer to make my own baby food because I think it is the best. We WILL be buying more Sprout Organic baby food.

You can find Sprout Organic Baby food at Kroger among other stores. If you live in the Cincinnati area. Krogers will have having some hands on sampling this month at their stores.

What do you do to make sure your baby gets only the best?

***I was sent a few packs to review. This is my honest opinion. Thanks Sprout for allowing me to try this product.***
